Funny Farm (1988)

Sportswriter Andy Farmer (Chevy Chase) and his schoolteacher wife, Elizabeth (Madolyn Smith), move away from the big-city hustle bustle to the seclusion of the country so that Andy can write a novel. Surrounded by quirky locals and strange customs, the Farmers quickly learn that country life is anything but quiet, and that life in their pastoral new home is just a series of wacky events waiting to happen.
