  Die Hard (1988)

John McClane (Willis) arrives in L.A. to join his wife Holly and children for the holidays. His first destination is the Nakatomi Corp which is were Holly works. Her office is having a huge Christmas party and John was invited. Their marriage is hanging by a thread and John is hoping to save it. Shortly after John arrives, terrorist take over the skyscraper in hopes to steal $600 Million in negotiable barabonds from Nakatomi. John armed with his sidearm starts taking out the terrorist one by one.

If you go back and watch this movie and remove the nostalgic bias from your eyes, you'll see that many of the stunts that seemed so mind blowing back then are juvenile at best here. The plot thuds along in that way that terrorist plots did back before we were actually attacked on American soil.
