Over the Top (1987)

Stallone stars as hard-luck big-rig trucker Lincoln Hawk and takes us under the glaring Las Vegas lights for all the boisterous action of the World Armwrestling Championship in Over the Top. He is traveling with his son which he has not known for most of his life, his ex-wife and mother of his son has died and she left by saying that she wanted them to spend time together. So Hawk is fighting for a good relationship with his stubborn son and for the championship.

A movie about a guy who tries to earn money so that he can raise his son, a boy he hardly knows. How does he go about trying to earn cash? He gets into professional arm wrestling, of course!
