La Bamba 1987

Filmmaker Luis Valdez (Zoot Suit) creates a nimble, exciting, and sympathetic portrait of the boy driven to rise above obstacles of race and family legacy, and Esai Morales is equally fine as Ritchie's envious, searching brother. Lou Diamond Phillips has proven himself to be a versatile actor. Playing Richie Valens probably was his most impressive performance. The story was well done, but discouraging. The attitude and jealousy of his brother toward Richie was sad. One of the songs, "Oh Donna" brought back an interesting memory. Donna was a...
