Parts 2-4 of the origanal trek movies are realy the better ones in my opinion, and i'm pretty sure most people my age who remember 80's movies in general will remember "That star trek movie where they save some whales" which is of course, this one.
What will appeal about this to people is that it works more like a comedy....

I am not a trekkie. I may have seen some Star Tek on TV - the original only, and I have seen a movie or two, but I am not obsessed with the show. No matter. You do not have to be a fan to love this one.
