After creating one of the breakthrough movies of the American independent cinema, Stranger than Paradise, Jim Jarmusch stayed right in the same minimalist, oddball, black-and-white groove. This is a prime example of the genius of Jim Jarmusch (America's most underrated filmmaker), whose other films - STRANGER THAN PARADISE, MYSTERY TRAIN, NIGHT ON EARTH, DEAD MAN, and GHOST DOG: WAY OF THE SAMURAI - are all excellent and belong on this list as well.
