Summer Rental (1985)

John Candy's first leading role was in this 1985 film by Carl Reiner, in which the comic actor played a stressed-out air traffic controller who takes his family on a Florida vacation and has to deal with arrogant, rich jerks. Candy is good in what is almost a straight part (albeit with some jokes), and Reiner keeps the tone in check so his star has an opportunity to show more than one dimension. --Tom Keogh (read more)

Growing up we watched this movie so many times that my Dad threatened to take our VHS copy and throw it in the garbage!!! I think that says more than a review ever could.
But apparently I need at least 300 characters for this to be a review.
Not Candy's best movie, but definitely in the top five. It gets a little too...

So this film was made in the St. Petersburg, FL area. My aunt was in the movie. She had everyone convinced, for a time, that she was the woman who went around showing off her new fake boobs. But, really, I only see her in a red dress for a quick flash in a restaurant scene. But the story is sorta funny to some of us.
So...
