Death Wish 3 (1985)

Bronson returns as Paul Kersey, who just stepped off the bus in New York City, only to discover his good friend has been murdered by a gang of degenerate thugs. The cops bust in, blame everything on Bronson, and haul him downtown for some questioning. In exchange for his freedom, Bronson agrees to become the prescint's personal vigilante, murdering criminals in cold blood. The thugs not going to take things lying down. Soon, the entire neighborhood is awash in bullets and blood as Bronson goes head-to-head with an army of blood-thirsty goons. (read more)

This movie is by far the funniest of the Death Wish series. If you are looking for a serious plot that doesn't involve needless killing, then I would stay away from Charles Bronson movies all-together. This is the Death Wish cartoon. There is little effort to justify the killing. Kersey is a tool of the police (Ed Lauter) and let loose to rid a neighborhood of a vicious gang that the police can't touch.
