One idyllic summer morning Arnold Hillerman, a 12-year-old Montana farm boy, and his brother Eugene, get up before dawn to pick peas. Shotgun in hand, Arnold is caught in a barbwire fence they climb through. During Arnold’s efforts to free himself and the shotgun, it goes off, killing Eugene. THE STONE BOY is a mournful tale of how Arnold comes to terms with his grief and how the other members of the family come to terms with Arnold. (read more)
