  Red Dawn (1984)

From Amazon: The Ronald Reagan 1980s were all about going back to the future--rewriting the past to better suit Reagan's upbeat vision of the present. So, Sylvester Stallone's John Rambo (a psychotic, shell-shocked Vietnam vet in the original film, transformed into a flag-waving hero in the sequel) was able to go back to Southeast Asia and "correct" history by decisively (and single-handedly) winning that messy ol' war on behalf of America. The ignorance with regards to this film (and history) is staggering.

Red Dawn features an ensemble cast of recognizable eighties faces (Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, C. Thomas Howell, Lea Thompson, and Jennifer Grey, among others) as high school students that survive a fictional invasion towards the end of the Cold War...

Aside from the fact that it would be impossible for any country to get that many troops on US soil without being spotted this movie is very realistic. The group of teenagers uses guerrilla warfare to battle the...

Red Dawn Movie Review by Jessica Film Junkie (10/28/2007)

A ridiculously conservative Americana flick about the 'inevitable' attacks of the communist union of Russia and Cuba on American soil. This film represents all the absurd fears Americans hold dear that inspire them to have a gun to each household and fear communism like it was the black plague.

The film follows a group...

Red Dawn Movie Review by Movie Addict (5/10/2007)

This film has so much right-wing propaganda that I felt I was watching the Republican Convention.

A group of teens with deer rifle takes on crack combat troops and we are supposed to believe that. I am sure glad that Patrick Swayze grew up in the five years before Road House.

He did reunite with fellow cast member...
