Annie Hall is one of the truest, most bittersweet romances on film. In it, Allen plays a thinly disguised version of himself: Alvy Singer, a successful--if neurotic--television comedian living in Manhattan. Woody Allen's best film follows a couple as they get together and begin to grow apart. Never before or since has Allen gotten to understand women as he does here.
Diane Keaton gives her most memorable performance as Annie Hall. She is scared and confused, but also very passionate and lively.
