The Magnificent Seven (1960)

Akira Kurosawa's rousing Seven Samurai was a natural for an American remake--after all, the codes and conventions of ancient Japan and the Wild West (at least the mythical movie West) are not so very far apart. Yes, it is a remake of a Japanese classic and, while I generally abhor
remakes, this one is just as good as the original. It is a classic that
does not wear with age. Whenever you need to get uplifted, this is a
film that can do it.
