The Hound of the Baskervilles 1939

Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) unravels a mystery involving an evil dog that kills all descendants of the Baskervilles at night on the moor. When Sir Henry Baskerville (Richard Greene) arrives at his ancestral home after the death of Sir Charles Baskerville, Dr. Mortimer (Lionel Atwill) tells him about the mythical canine. Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) protects Baskerville while Holmes sniffs around. Wendy Barrie co-stars in the classic drama.

The Hound of the Baskervilles Movie Review by Movie Addict (8/1/2010)

The first of Basil Rathbone's many appearances as Sherlock Holmes.

For purists, it is also a faithful adaptation of the Arthur Conan Doyle novel.

Rathbone gets to play a "good guy" for a change. He is partnered with Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson.
