Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans 2009

description written by member Zara:

Corrupt, drug-addicted Det. Terence McDonough (Nicolas Cage) -- whose bad habits also include a tendency to accept sexual favors as bribes -- investigates the murder of five Senegalese illegal immigrants in New Orleans. Co-starring Val Kilmer as McDonough's partner and Xzibit as the villainous Big Fade, director Werner Herzog's gripping action drama is a loose update of Abel Ferrara's 1992 film Bad Lieutenant.

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Movie Review by Martin (6/30/2010)

I can no longer figure out whether I like Nicolas Cage or not. He has been in some stinkers recently, some of which have had a bad enough reputation that I've not even bothered seeing them (The Wicker-man remake, Bangkok dangerous) and some I've unfortunately seen (Knowing, next) but he's also the great actor who appeared...

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Movie Review by Movie Addict (6/2/2010)

You can't get tied down by the crime in this film. It is unimportant. This is a picture of a drug addicted cop (Nicolas Cage), who will do anything, even rape, in his quest for drugs and depravity.

He is even going with a hooker (Eva Mendes). He doesn't mind, and they share drugs.

This is post-Katrina New Orleans, and...

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Movie Review by Ben (12/23/2009)

Alright, let's get this out of the way like hundreds of reviews before this one and hundreds after it; Werner Herzog's "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" is not a remake of Abel Ferrara's 1992 film "Bad Lieutenant" which as a friend of mine pointed out "made 'Taxi Driver' look like 'Alice In Wonderland'." The only...

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Movie Review by Jarrod (11/24/2009)

'Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans' bears almost no resemblance to Abel Ferrara's 1992 cult classic, which starred Harvey Keitel as a corrupt, self-destructive cop who ultimately hopes to find redemption. It was originally rated NC-17, and Ferrara did very little to dispute, or alter that rating. This movie,...
