Avatar 2009

description written by member Zara:

Crippled ex-Marine Jake (Sam Worthington) journeys to the beautiful planet Pandora to become an avatar -- a quasi-alien "clone" of his real self -- and unwittingly becomes involved in an interstellar conflict. When the alien Na'vi race rebels against humanity's unchecked exploitation of Pandora's resources, Jake must decide exactly where his loyalties lie. James Cameron directs this dazzling action film that also stars Sigourney Weaver.

Avatar Movie Review by BillyBob (7/11/2012)

Set in the year 2151 - This visually spectacular (yet emotionally haywire) tale of a ruthless rape attempt, by humans, of the planet Pandora for its valuable resources and the near-annihilation of the Na'vi peoples, an indigenous humanoid species of said planet, borrowed heavily (I think) from the well-known story of...

Avatar Movie Review by Joe (7/19/2011)

Avatar, the epic world of the future is three hours of amusement, bladder-holding, and stiffness of boredom. The much overhyped, nonchalant c*ckiness in this tale is entertaining itself and at the least - not surprising. The story begins where our wheel-chaired hero (Sam Worthington) decides to make an avatar for...

Avatar Movie Review by Movie Addict (8/21/2010)

"I was saved! I was saved by a flying wild man in a loincloth." No, that is not Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) talking about Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), but Jane speaking about Tarzan, the original "white savior." Avatar is just another version of the "white savior" movie - the natives are incapable of protecting themselves, so a...

Avatar Movie Review by Tim (4/24/2010)

Ok....I finally feel like I am a normal member of society since I finally broke down and watched Avatar. When something gets the attention that Avatar commanded and everyone tells me how great this is ...it just makes me want to hide from it. I almost dont want to like it because everyone else does and makes too big of a...

Avatar Movie Review by Krissy (1/18/2010)

Love it. Love it.Love it. Love it.!!! I swear this movie made me never want to use a plastic bag to buy groceries again, and I'm sooooo not the 'tree hugger' type.

The one thing that I can say that I honestly did not like about this movie is that it protrays our military as blood thristy, brainless idiots. While I will...
