A Serious Man (2009)

When his wife (Sari Wagner) leaves him for one of his colleagues, physics professor Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg) admits it's time to become a more serious man. But there's so much holding him back from spiritual greatness -- including a freeloading brother (Richard Kind) and two useless kids. Joel Coen and Ethan Coen helm this autobiographically inspired black comedy set in 1960s Minnesota. Aaron Wolff and Jessica McManus co-star.

Joel and Ethan Coen have yet to make a bad, or even mediocre film. Having started their career with Raising Arizona and Blood Simple, and then churning out masterpieces like Fargo and No Country for Old Men (which netted them multiple Oscars), they have done enough to qualify as two of American cinema's finest directors....
