Coraline (2009)

Curious young Coraline (voiced by Dakota Fanning) unlocks a mysterious door in her family's new home and is transported to an alternate universe that strangely resembles her own -- only better. I seen the 2D version of this so maybe i'm missing something. This movie seems to be all about the visuals, which are pretty amazing to be fair. All stop motion animation in a time where CGI rules supreme. But despite the awesome look and hardwork thats gone into making this film i cant realy say its one of the best kids...

This movie, much like last year's IGOR, doesn't know who its audience is. While focusing on subject matter that is supposed to be scary for small children, it actually surpasses that and is TOO freaky and strange for small children. This is NOT the latest and greatest NIGHTMARE BEFORE XMAS.

Probably this dark fairy tale is not for small kids. It is more like Harry Potter in its darkest moments (which makes it a horror movie then), and like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" craziness in the brightest ones.
