  The Lodger (2009)

description written by member Zara:

Grizzled detective Chandler Manning is on the trail of a ruthless killer intent on slaughtering prostitutes along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip. Meanwhile, a mysterious stranger called Malcolm Slaight rents a guesthouse from Joe (Donal Logue) and Ellen Bunting, a married couple struggling to preserve their fragile union after their plans to start a family have ended in tragedy. Manning, shunned both by his daughter Amanda and his suicidal wife Margaret as a result of his single-minded dedication to police work, teams up with unlikely rookie partner Street Wilkenson, only to make a startling discovery. It appears that the murderer's grisly methods are identical to that of London's infamous 19th century psychopath Jack the Ripper - a relentless serial killer who was never caught by police. To make matters worse, Manning soon notices the parallels between the crimes committed by the West Hollywood stalker and those of a serial murderer Manning incarcerated years ago.

The Lodger Movie Review by Zara (3/1/2009)

Interesting, if oft times confusing, thriller about a serial killer in West Hollywood who mimics the murders from Jack the Ripper. (I keep thinking about that commercial they show at the beginning of movies now where they end with Jack the Rapper and are talking about turning your cell phone off.)

Anyhow, the best part of...
