Doubt (2008)

In a Catholic elementary school in the Bronx, Sister Aloysius (Meryl Streep) begins to have doubts about one of the priests, Father Flynn (Philip Seymour Hoffman), who seems to have become overly involved in the life of a young African American pupil. But Flynn isn't the only one she has doubts about. Is she overreacting to the situation or is there a truth that needs to be discovered? John Patrick Shanley directs.

This is that kind of movie which is engineered to win awards. What bugs me about these kinds of movies is that they don't seem to care how good the sum of the product as they are with the value of the parts. Is the acting stellar? Did the director do every move in the book right? How does the art direction look?...

I liked the movie, but overcooked my expectations about it so it did not match them exactly. I imagined it to be more dramatic from the trailer. The drama is there, of course.
