Trixie (2000)

Emily Watson is Trixie, a detective with a tendency to mangle every sentence that comes out of her mouth. In fact, the only crime she can't solve is her murder of the English language. Director Alan Rudolph spins a wholly unpredictable comedic whodunit filled with more twists and turns than a spiral staircase. Nick Nolte enthralls as a crooked, philandering senator who may know more than he lets on.
