Righteous Kill (2008)
description written by member Zara:
Academy Award winners Robert De Niro and Al Pacino star in this taut thriller as a pair of New York City detectives tasked with investigating a rash of vigilante killings linked to a case years ago, suggesting they may have put an innocent man behind bars. John Leguizamo, Carla Gugino, Brian Dennehy, Donnie Wahlberg and rapper-turned-actor 50 Cent also star in this crime drama penned by Russel Gerwitz (Inside Man) and directed by Jon Avnet.

Ok, so this may be just another cop movie...but it was a damn good one. I have been cinematically deprived (i.e. never saw Heat) so the shock of seeing the two greats face to face wasn't a great pull for me. I thought that any movie with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro simply could not be bad; Heat, after all, was terrific, and they both appeared together in The Godfather Part II, though never sharing scenes. In Heat, Michael Mann allowed them one climactic confrontation and placed them on opposite sides of the law. Here, in...

DeNiro and Pacino play veteran detectives of the NYPD who are investigating the murders of various criminals ranging from a pimp to a rapist, and it soon becomes clear (you think?) that this is the work of a serial killer who leaves behind notes of rhyming phrases as to why he kills who he kills. DeNiro plays Turk who, as...
