Director Jon Avnet's real-time thriller finds Jack Gramm (Al Pacino), college professor and occasional forensic shrink for the FBI, in a race against time. When Gramm receives a mysterious phone call telling him he has exactly 88 minutes left to live, can he track down his would-be killer before the clock runs out? I am a little confused. This character was perfect for Pacino.
It was also an exciting story. I couldn't wait until the end to see what the surprise was going to be. I just knew there was going to be something there. There were just too many suspects. Bodies were piling up all over. It was a great script by Gary Scott...

'88 Minutes' is indeed a rather absurd thriller, but it has Al Pacino in it and that counts for something. Not to say Pacino always picks the best roles, but an actor of his talent and stature is sure to make even a mediocre or downright awful movie at least halfway enjoyable; and '88 Minutes' is no exception.
