The Guitar (2008)

Amos Poe's script concerns the transformation of a woman after she is diagnosed with a terminal illness, fired from her thankless job and abandoned by her boyfriend. Given two months to live, she blows her savings and maxes out her credit cards to pursue her dreams, which include romance and learning to play the electric guitar.

I wasn't quite sure what to make of this movie, a film that first comes off as deeply depressing about a woman who loses her job, her boyfriend and potentially her life (within two months) to cancer of the throat. Saffron Burrows looks to be deathly ill in the beginning of the movie and you start to think that you're going...
