  The African Queen (1951)

From Amazon: The 1951 John Huston classic, set in Africa during World War I, garnered Humphrey Bogart an Oscar for his role as a hard-drinking riverboat captain in Africa, who provides passage for a Christian missionary spinster (Katharine Hepburn). Taking an instant, mutual dislike to one another, the two endure rough waters, the presence of German soldiers, and their own bickering to finally fall into one another's arms. This is classic Huston material--part adventure, part quest--but this time with a pair of characters who'd all but given up on happiness. Bogart (a longtime collaborator with Huston on such classics as The Maltese Falcon and Key Largo)...

The African Queen Movie Review by Jesse (7/16/2007)

You hear of these classics and you want to see them, but sometimes when you watch them they disappoint you (such as (for me) Ben-Hur), but The African Queen is certainly one of the best. It was clear that director John Huston was having a good time shooting this picture with two of the greatest stars...

The African Queen Movie Review by Jessica Film Junkie (3/30/2007)

This strange and unique film takes place almost entirely on a small boat carrying a missionary and a riverboat captain.

They meet conflict and must survive, but the best part of this movie is the chemistry between two of the greatest stars ever to grace the screen.

Amazingly this is the only film Katharine Hepburn and...
