Scrooge 1935

description written by member Zara:

This striking adaptation of Charles Dickens's holiday classic is notable for its superb performances, a vigorous script, excellent pacing, persuasive settings, costumes that utterly capture 1843 London and impressive moving-camera photography with atmospheric lighting reminiscent of German expressionist cinema. Sir Seymour Hicks delivers a first-class performance as Scrooge, inhabiting the role thoroughly, subtly and radiantly.

There is a lot in this movie that will not be seen in a traditional version, including a rendition of "God Save the Queen."

I liked Oscar...
