Funny Games (2008)
description written by member Zara:
Anna (Naomi Watts) and George (Tim Roth) are enjoying a vacation with their son when a pair of sadistic young men, Paul (Michael Pitt) and Peter (Brady Corbet), breaks into their cabin and holds the family hostage. The psychotic duo plays twisted games with their prisoners, forcing them to comply to stay alive. Director Michael Haneke remakes his chilling 1997 German-language film as an indictment of the media's fascination with violence.

I was going to save reviewing this flick for the time that I got a chance to watch the original, still sitting on my side table in its NetFlix sleeve. But since I've seen two very negative reviews of it so far, I'll add my perspective.

Pitt & Corbet play off each other well and its clear that their characters compliment one...

The plot was bad, the acting was bad, in fact everything about the movie was bad. Were the two guys friends, roomates, brothers, gay! I have no idea, this movie was just plain horrible, I wish I never...

In this exploration of our violent society and how depictions of violence reflect and shape our culture, a middle-class family submits both physically and mentally to the torture, violence, and death foisted upon them by two young, unexpected, white-gloved visitors at their vacation retreat near a lake.
Funny Games is an...

For me, I found "Funny Games" to be at times a brilliantly made movie that shows Haneke to be a current master of suspense. This movie has no real film score to speak of, and it doesn't need it to generate tension. The only music we hear are some opera pieces the happy middle class family play in their car as they head off...
