Pathology (2008)

After recent med school grad Ted (Milo Ventimiglia) lands an internship at a prestigious pathology unit in a Philadelphia hospital, he soon finds his new colleagues have some pathological tendencies themselves. Seems his fellow interns have designed a gruesome contest to commit the perfect untraceable murder, while also competing to see who can determine the cause of death. Alyssa Milano co-stars in this bloody medical thriller.

I guess what I'm struggling to figure out is what the point of this movie was. A blatant rip-off of FLATLINERS in so many ways (young, good looking cast obsessed with being able to control the concept of life and death - no matter the way you recut it as a bunch of pathologists killing people and then daring the others in...

'Pathology' is about a group of med students who competing to see who among them can commit the perfect murder. That they are med students is one thing; they are also, more or less, a bunch of arrogant rich kids, and this taps into the film's similarities to Murder by Numbers and Rope, both inspired by the real-life case...
