A Night to Remember (1958)

For those who want the story of the Titanic without the love story, this historical drama gives a more accurate accounting of the facts surrounding the famous ocean liner's demise. It's based on Walter Lord's well researched book about the incident. Several of the actual story-lines (even some specific scenes) will be familiar to those who've seen the 1997 film.

I could not help but think of my grandfather, who came over to this country in steerage from Sicily. Fortunately, his ship did not sink or he would have been treated as the passengers were on this ship.
They really had not choice as there were 1000 more passengers than there were lifeboat spaces.
