"August Rush" tells the story of a charismatic young Irish guitarist (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) and a sheltered young cellist (Keri Russell) who have a chance encounter one magical night above New York's Washington Square, but are soon torn apart, leaving in their wake an infant, August Rush, orphaned by circumstance. Now performing on the streets of New York and cared for by a mysterious stranger (Robin Williams), August (Freddie Highmore) uses his remarkable musical talent to seek the parents from whom he was separated at birth.

OK, perhaps I just didn't "get" this movie. I mean, I liked MR HOLLAND'S OPUS, so I'm not completely immune to the stories about music being the center of our cores and all that jazz (and, as a note, Terrence Howard was in that movie as well).
RUSH is filmed beautifully and really is a love song to the power of music....

Now the first time I watched this movie when it hit the theatres, and I found it laughable... I mean c'mon there is no way lil Freddie Highmore would be so wide eyed and innocent if he'd spent all his life in the care of the state, not to mention his god awful yanky accent, now I know he's young an all but it was really...

I did not love this film, although I thought that Keri Russell gave a decent performance - I just thought that it was a blah film. I was really confused about the creepy character that Robin Williams - he drew my attention, but not in a good way! That weird red hair and those sideburns...gah! I think that this film could...
