No Country for Old Men (2007)
description written by member Zara:
The film follows Llewelyn Moss (Brolin), a husband out hunting near the Rio Grande who comes across a drug deal gone sour - leaving behind a cache of heroin, two million dollars and several bodies. When two more men end up murdered, the local Sheriff (Jones) realizes Moss and his wife need protection. Things turn dangerous when various men, ranging from ruthless freelancers to ex-Special Forces members, turn up to find out the truth and destroy all evidence. "No Country for Old Men" is the film adaptation of the novel by Cormac McCarthy.

West Texas is a perfect setting for a movie like this -- no trees, just desolate land for miles around. The chicken farmer (Richard Jackson) was from Alpine -a place in the middle of nowhere with a long long stretch of road that literally - I kid you not - has turkey buzzards on the fence posts along the way. Annie Proulx...

I am a huge fan of the Coen Brothers, the duo behind such classics as "Fargo", "The Man Who Wasn't There", "Blood Simple" and "Raising Arizona". Their films gleefully mix a sense of humor so dark it could almost be black with whacky, off-center characters who get involved with violent events. When I first heard about "No...
