Charlie Bartlett (2008)
description written by member Zara:
This comedy follows the exploits of Charlie Bartlett (Anton Yelchin), a miserable high school student who finds a novel way to fit in with his classmates: by pretending to be the school psychiatrist, dispensing advice and the occasional prescription medicine. Charlie's sympathetic ear and ready access to drugs make him popular with the students, but his activities soon attract the unwelcome attention of the school principal (Robert Downey Jr.).

I'm probably giving this movie a slightly higher rating than I normally would have because I went into it wanting to like it. Robert Downey Jr. is more than on the top of his game lately, Hope Davis is always a delight (and there's no disappointment whatsoever here, if anything, she's the one who steals the show) and even...

The biggest difference, by the way, is that today's teenagers have a lot of conditions they need prescription medications for. This principal isn't a dick, like the one in TALK HARD (with Christian Slater),...

Charlie just wants to fit in, that's all. But having been raised in a wealthy family and having gone to private schools his whole life, it's no surprise that he has problems when he has to go to public school. When the family doctor prescribes Ritalin needlessly, Charlie sells them and instantly becomes the man to know....

This was actually a pretty good movie. At first I thought it was going to be dumb but it wasnt. I watched it and enjoyed every second of it. Its about a private school dropout who becomes popular in a public school when he becomes the official teen psychartrist and gives out medication. It had its funny moments in it but...
