We had a hard time watching this movie in my house because our lives parallel the characters a little too much. My main problem with it is that the film was marketed as being more of an out-and-out comedy, something in the vein of other Australian flicks like MURIEL'S WEDDING.

Brenda Blethyn is a fine actress, but always seems to be typecast these days as the loud, obnoxious, and boozy mother, a role she perfected in Little Voice, but once or even twice was enough, now it all seems like a cliche. 'Introducing the Dwights' has her playing this part again, and she is one of only a few highlights...
