A petty criminal in debt to the local crime boss is at the end of his rope decides to jump into a river but is beaten to it by another woman. Inside of jumping in to his doom, he jumps in to rescue her and sets off a mysterious bond between the two of them.

A lot of people complain about foreign movies because they hate to read subtitles. But, if you want to sample something funny and familiar, you could not do better that this French film by director Luc Besson, a director I see frequently with films like Nikita, Leon (The Professional), The Three Burials of Melquiades...

I wasn't sure how this movie was going to play out. The humor was so dead pan in its delivery (not to mention spoken in French) that I wasn't sure if they were being serious or joking.
