Vacancy (2007)
description written by member Zara:
A couple's car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and they decide to take up temporary residence in a creepy little motel where the only entertainment is from the television. Only problem is that the movies being shown on the TV look like they're not just the standard slasher flicks but real life movies filmed in the motel room the couple is in.

Hmm... I wonder why he's not on the cast list. (Ethan Embry, that is. I love that guy.)

Sure, I got this one because of Kate Beckinsale (Laurel Canyon, Van Helsing, Underworld), and...

The back of the DVD said something along the lines of making the viewer "squirm in their seats", and squirm I did indeed. There was suspense aplenty, lots of darkness, and a pretty spooky (if a little unoriginal) premise. I just couldn't help but think these people were a couple of boneheads, I did a whole lot more...

Horror movies are a dime a dozen these days. The horror genre has expanded to fit so many new sub-categories (the "PG-13 horror", the "torture-porn", the "Asian horror re-make", etc.) that audiences can quickly get burned out. The release date for "Vacancy" was probably not the best. In April alone audiences saw...
