First Snow (2007)
A roadside psychic shares two predictions with overconfident salesman Jimmy Starks (Guy Pearce), and one of them -- that he'll be hit with a major windfall -- seems to be coming true. But if the soothsayer is right about that, then Jimmy must prepare for the other, more ominous part of the prophecy. Piper Perabo and William Fichtner co-star in this Southwestern suspense thriller from screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men).

Is it destiny or did you make it happen? Are you going to die regardless of what you do to avoid it, or do you make decisions that result in your death? This neo noir with Guy Pearce (Momento, The Proposition, L.A. Confidential) was well written and exciting from start to finish.

This is another one of those "fate vs. free" will movies. The thing that I tend be consistently disappointed about this type of movie is that, after seeing enough of them, it is an almost 100% guarantee that whatever is predicted by a fortune/psychic/visitor from the future will come true.
