A Place in the Sun (1951)

A man who has grown up in a good society is forced to learn the family business from the ground up, working on the assembly line. He meets a good girl there and begins to fall for her right as he is allowed back into upper crust circles where he meets a sophisticated young woman and forgets about the poor good girl.

Hollywood adaption of the book, An American Tragedy(which was based on a true story). This is the movie that launched Elizabeth Taylor from a child star to an American sex symbol. Yet, it's one of the many great Montgomery Clift performances. He was a great actor in his prime and could've been one of the best ever. Sadly...
