Jim Carrey is back in a different character role then he normally plays. This time he becomes obsessed with a book named "The Number 23" that supposedly tells the story of his life. The interesting thing is that it ends with a murder that has not happened yet in real life.

I know that Jim Carrey is nominated, along with Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, and Nickolas Cage for Worst Actor of the Year, but I really think that he gave a good performance in this interesting film - and this coming from someone who can't stand him! This film could've been cool, maybe even awesome. But man, they ruined it. Jim Carrey is a strong actor in my opinion, but when he tries to be a sorta noir, 50s-style, saxophone playing, lone-wolf detective, well...it just doesn't sit right.
I dug a lot of the shots and techniques used in this movie. There was even one...

I don't know who thought this would be an interesting movie and I don't know who roped Jim Carrey and Virginia Madsen into such a mess, but whoever they are, they should be fired.
This movie really wants you to think it is Fincher-esque, it wants to be a mind-f*ck, but in the end it is highly predictable, annoyingly acted...

9/11/2001....9+11+2+1=23. Julius Ceaser was stabbed 23 times. In Jim Carreys first serious horror movie, he does a good job. But the film lacks the scares and thrills that make horror films worth while.
