El Topo 1970

Alejandro Jodorowsky's rereleased El Topo (1970) is a gloriously wild, over-the-top tale that puts the gory into allegory. It's a surreal, biblical spaghetti western with a strong shot of Zen, made mainly in Mexico, partly utilising the Tombstone set of the John Sturges western Hour of the Gun.

El Topo Movie Review by Movie Addict (4/20/2008)

I watched a couple of westerns this week and neither are what you would call typical. This one certainly isn't like anything I saw on Saturday mornings growing up.

Alejandro Jodorowsky is definitely a surrealist, and incorporates many different religious themes in this film. Basically, it is about a man searching for...

El Topo Movie Review by Ryan Midnight (6/29/2007)

Forget THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, this is the original, the unbeatable, and the pinnacle of the "midnight movie" Thrust upon the United States and the world when John Lennon and Yoko Ono saw Alejandro Jodorwsky's underground film and persuaded a friend to distribute it worldwide, EL TOPO took audiences unaware, became...
