The Messengers (2007)

When Roy and Denise Solomon (Dylan McDermott and Penelope Ann Miller) move onto a run-down North Dakota sunflower farm with their daughter Jess (Kristen Stewart), they plan to renovate it and live a simple country life. But as the dilapidated farm begins to revive, Denise and Jess start to notice alarming changes in Roy's behavior. Soon, the family is overtaken by fear and suspicion. John Corbett co-stars in this chilling horror flick.

There are all the standards problems with this movie that you would expect from a ghost story which is rated PG-13. Overly melodramatic acting from the parental figures who are upset with a teenage daughter who has "had some troubles" enough where they needed to move completely away to the boonies and yet have no problem...

I love horror films but this one was really unbelievably bad. It was really predictable and wasn't even scary. I found myself laughing through parts of it that weren't even supposed to be funny. I found it to be somewhat reminiscent of "The Amityville Horror" and "The Grudge". A combination of the two just didn't work for...

I love the horror genre. Seriously, even the most cheesy, poorly acted, directed, written horror films. No matter how bad, how scathing the reviews, scads of people telling me to save my money, I won't be stopped from seeing a horror film. I can ALWAYS find something that is redeeming. In this case, two come to mind....
