I guess what bothers me most about this movie was that it was based on a case that was going on in the area of California very near to where I live. I'm from Ventura County and this situation came out of Santa Barbara County, just a half hour drive from where I am.

"Alpha Dog" is not as bad as I was expecting it to be. Written and directed by Nick Cassavetes, son of Indie maverick director John and actress Gena Rowlands, this film works on some levels and not on others. The most telling moment of the film is when they were all together and making fun of the rappers with guns. You had no indication that guns were a big part of their lives, but they were there, just below the surface, and used when necessary.
The movie moves on to a life of partying with the drug dealing below the surface...
