The Dead Girl (2006)
The murdered body of a young woman named Krista is found by Arden, a lonesome caretaker living with her irascible mother. This leads to Leah, a forensics graduate student whose sister went missing as a child, stumbling upon possible closure when Krista's body appears on her gurney. The story continues with Ruth, who in the midst of a long love/hate relationship with her husband, discovers a disturbing connection between her husband and Krista's murder. Finally, Melora is a mother searching for answers about her runaway daughter Krista's troubled life and finds help in her quest from another troubled young woman.

I suppose I could draw comparisons between this movie and 21 GRAMS, another flick with big name actors and a ghostly art/cinematography direction which was meant to add to the bleak nature of the subject matter being covered. However, there are some big differences here.
First is the lack of histrionics by the actors....

This will be another short review as there just is not too much to say about this film. The film started off great, a dead girls body is found and the story starts introducing you to different people that were involved in the dead girl's life such as her mother, her sister, etc.....
So basically its shot in several short...

Toni Collette finds the body, and experiences some measure of notoriety. At least she isn't getting yelled out by her mother (Piper Laurie), who depends upon her for constant care. She finds the strength to leave.

'The Dead Girl' is a very sad and powerful movie, the atmosphere and plot is both disturbing and depressing in it's own ways. I believe the most emotional thing about the movie is that we have characters whom we can believe are real, dealing with real emotions, and director Karen Moncrieff does an amazing job at showing us...

Terrific, I thought. The one story of "the dead girl" interconnects with many other people in different ways and their own stories are just as sad. Director Karen Moncrieff helms this movie and it's evident through the characters and the performances that she does a very good job directing this film.
