I heard a rumour that the studio is pushing to try and get an Oscar nod for Beyonce in this movie. Bad move. DREAMGIRLS isn't about Beyonce, even if she IS in the lead role. Two things came to mind immediately after viewing "Dreamgirls", the new film based on the Broadway play starring Jamie Foxx, Beyonce' Knowles, Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson.
1. This is a good film getting too much hype.
2. Eddie Murphy deserves an Academy Award nomination.

I feel like 3 stars is being generous for this movie. I am a HUGE fan of musicals, a huge fan of Beyonce, Eddie Murphy, hell, all the actors in this film. Maybe my expectations were too high?
