Eragon (2006)
Based on the Christopher Paolini-penned bestselling fantasy novel about a youth whose discovery of a dragon egg leads him to become a knight and battle an evil king. The medieval-set tale revolves around a farm boy who learns he is the last of a breed of benevolent Dragon Riders, whose magical powers derived from their bond with the beasts.

I think the only thing more laughable than the writing of this poor rip-off of every fantasy story ever written is that they were able to secure John Malkovich and Jeremy Irons in lead roles. And that Malkovich was one of the top billed even though he has very little screen time and clearly is in it for the bloated...

The plot's fine, the effects are fine, but this movie really illustrates how important character development and relationship development are. The closest we get to decent development is between the hero and his mentor. We are supposed to assume strength, passion, and other requisite emotions flowing from and to the love...
