  Running With Scissors (2006)

Running With Scissors is the hilarious and poignant feature film based on the personal memoirs of Augusten Burroughs. Growing up in the 1970's, young Augusten (Joseph Cross) was living a middle-class existence with an alcoholic father (Alec Baldwin) and a bipolar mother (Annette Bening), an unpublished poet with delusions of becoming famous. When his parents divorce, Augusten's mother sends him to live with her wildly unorthodox psychiatrist, Dr. Finch (Brian Cox) and his eccentric extended family. Running With Scissors chronicles Augusten's survival under the most extraordinary of circumstances. (read more)

Running With Scissors Movie Review by Zombie Boy (1/27/2008)

I liked this one. It was like THE ROYAL TENNENBAUMS, except it was funny and interesting. Or maybe I just make that connection because of Gwyneth Paltrow.

However what he puts to screen here is little more than Wes Wnderson lite, and hardly a solid representation of the chaotic mess of a book.

It is the...

Running With Scissors Movie Review by Lisa (5/16/2007)

I honestly don't know why I continue to do this to myself, why do I watch movies based on books that I loved. I finish reading, "Running with Scissors" last night and as I thoroughly enjoyed it I figured what the hell I'll watch the movie. About 30 minutes in I felt like kicking my own ass for being so naive to think that...

Running With Scissors Movie Review by Jenny (2/12/2007)

I'm giving this movie two stars based on two reasons: The cast, and the "Breaking the ceiling" scene. Other than that, the movie was terrible.

After reading stellar reviews about this movie on here, and hearing how wonderful the book was, I was hoping for a bit...more. The first 30 minutes of the movie are painfully...
