The Last King of Scotland (2006)

In an incredible twist of fate, a Scottish doctor (James McAvoy) on a Ugandan medical mission becomes irreversibly entangled with one of the world's most barbaric figures: Idi Amin (Forest Whitaker). Impressed by Dr. Garrigan's brazen attitude in a moment of crisis, the newly self-appointed Ugandan President Amin hand picks him as his personal physician and closest confidante. Though Garrigan is at first flattered and fascinated by his new position, he soon awakens to Amin's savagery - and his own complicity in it. Horror and betrayal ensue as Garrigan tries to right his wrongs and escape Uganda alive. (read more)

The Last King of Scotland Movie Review by B Movie Ben (11/11/2007)

There is no doubt why Forest Whitaker as Idi Amin grabbed just about every award he was nominated for. He was just incredible in the picture and really played the character just as I imagined he would be in real life.

The Last King of Scotland Movie Review by Daniel (7/29/2007)

THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND (Dir. Kevin MacDonald, 2006) Sometimes when already established actors play real-life historical figures they become so absorbed in the role with all the aestitics and recreations that it's hard for me to separate them one from the other - they are forever linked. When I think of Jackson Pollack I...

The Last King of Scotland Movie Review by Justin (4/19/2007)

Well, it's a few days late, but I'm here again with a review of "The Last King of Scotland" starring James McAvoy and Forest Whitaker his Oscar/Golden Globe winning performance.

The story is about Dr. Nicholas Garrigan, a young Scottish doctor. Dreading the prospect of living the life of a family doctor in Scotland, the...

The Last King of Scotland Movie Review by Chris (3/21/2007)

Last King stars Forrest Whitaker as General Idi Amin the ruler of Uganda. It is told through the eyes of Nicholas, a fictional character played by James Macovoy. The movie is basically a slowspiral into madness as the increasingly paranoid Amin starts to lose control. In the same scenes Forrest Whitaker can be both...
