The Last King of Scotland (2006)

In an incredible twist of fate, a Scottish doctor (James McAvoy) on a Ugandan medical mission becomes irreversibly entangled with one of the world's most barbaric figures: Idi Amin (Forest Whitaker). Impressed by Dr. Garrigan's brazen attitude in a moment of crisis, the newly self-appointed Ugandan President Amin hand picks him as his personal physician and closest confidante. Though Garrigan is at first flattered and fascinated by his new position, he soon awakens to Amin's savagery - and his own complicity in it. Horror and betrayal ensue as Garrigan tries to right his wrongs and escape Uganda alive. (read more)

The Last King of Scotland Movie Review by Martin (8/12/2009)

Man i seem to be seeing alot of good movies recently, and "The Last king of Scotland" is no exception. Infact, its probably one of the better ones.

But we would be remiss if we did not also celebrate the performance of James McAvoy (Wimbledon) as Dr....

The Last King of Scotland Movie Review by Daniel (7/29/2007)

THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND (Dir. Kevin MacDonald, 2006) Sometimes when already established actors play real-life historical figures they become so absorbed in the role with all the aestitics and recreations that it's hard for me to separate them one from the other - they are forever linked. When I think of Jackson Pollack I...

The Last King of Scotland Movie Review by Jarrod (7/9/2007)

There are many sad stories to come out of Africa, 'Hotel Rwanda' dealt with perhaps the worst of them in recent memory, a genocide by one tribal group against another. Africa is wrought with civil war, poverty, disease, and, to perpetuate these problems, bad and corrupt government, typically dictators who take power by...

The Last King of Scotland Movie Review by Justin (4/19/2007)

Well, it's a few days late, but I'm here again with a review of "The Last King of Scotland" starring James McAvoy and Forest Whitaker his Oscar/Golden Globe winning performance.

The story is about Dr. Nicholas Garrigan, a young Scottish doctor. Dreading the prospect of living the life of a family doctor in Scotland, the...
