Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles 2006


From three-time Academy Award nominated director Zhang Yimou comes a moving story of one man's journey across China's heartland. For the first time in many years, Takata Gou-ichi (Takakura Ken) takes the bullet train to Tokyo from the quiet fisherman's village where he lives on the northwest coast of Japan. His daughter-in-law, Rie (Terajima Shinobu) had telephoned to tell him that his son, Ken-ichi (Nakai Kiichi) is seriously ill, and asking for his father. (read more)

Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles Movie Review by Movie Addict (11/5/2007)

I never fail to be enchanted by Yimou Zhang's films. Curse of the Golden Flower, hero, House of Flying Daggers - they are all superb and pleasurable on so many levels. I can just imagine what we be be seeing at the opening and closing of the Olympics next year.

This film, while not on the scale of the others, is no less...
