  The Descent (2006)

In a remote mountain range, six girlfriends meet for their yearly adventure, a caving trip into the arteries of the earth. The group makes their way through the remote cave system, enjoying the hazardous but beautiful surroundings. Then, deep inside the cave, disaster strikes when their route back to the surface is blocked by a rockfall. When they learn that Juno, always pushing herself that little bit further, has brought them to an unexplored cave, and that no one is coming to rescue them, the group starts to splinter. Left with no other option, they push on through the cave, praying for another exit. The women battle through this harsh underground world, pitting their strength and determination against each new challenge. Unbeknownst to them, there is something else lurking under the earth, a race of monstrous creatures hidden from the light, evolved to live perfectly in the dark. As the friends realize they have become prey, they are forced to unleash their most primal instincts to face the creatures. As old wounds break open and loyalties disintegrate, the women realize the horrible truth-they have most to fear from one another. (read more)

The Descent Movie Review by Zara (3/12/2007)

If there's anything that I love more than blood, it's a strong female character. The last one that I witnessed on the screen was Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in the ALIEN movies. The first one to come along since then and just blow all that out of the water is Juno.

Sure, she lies and deceives her friends about which cave...

The Descent Movie Review by Max (8/6/2006)

I find caves absolutely magnificent. There's something about them, the cold, dripping feeling of the inside, the colors, and the beautiful masses of rock. For those of you who have been to Indian Echo Caverns, which I imagine is probably all of you, is that not a beautiful cave? Though, once the tour has reached around the...

The Descent Movie Review by Movie Addict (1/26/2008)

If there was ever the remotest chance that I would ever go into a cave, that chance just became non existent after seeing this film.

Girls may want to have fun, but these girls - Shauna Macdonald, Natalie Jackson Mendoza, Alex Reid, Saskia Mulder, MyAnna Buring (Grindhouse), and Nora-Jane No one - are starkers! I'm all...

The Descent Movie Review by Steven (1/25/2008)

As a horror movie fan, I often get skeptical when Hollywood rolls out a horror film since most of them are recycled crap. But when I saw "The Descent" I was in horror geek heaven.

The story is about a group of female friends, who for enjoyment I suppose, goes cave dwelling in a cave that no one survives through. We...

The Descent Movie Review by Ben (12/19/2007)

I just rented this recently, and I never got myself to see it in a movie theater. I like horror movies, but you can still see me covering my ears (not my eyes) when something scary is about to happen. But it really says something when a movie that is scary in theaters remains just as scary on the small screen. "The...
