Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) discovers he owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, Captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. With time running out, Jack must find a way out of his debt or else be doomed to eternal damnation and servitude in the afterlife. Making matters worse, Sparrow's problems manage to interefere with the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), who are forced to join Jack on yet another one of his misadventures. This was an absolutely stunning film and had a great story to boot. Johnny Depp was definitely cheated out of a Golden Globe for his performance in this film. The visual effects were over the top and the Oscar was well deserved, but I really felt that the musical score by Hans Zimmer was as good or better than his previous...

The "Pirates" flicks leave me somewhat speechless after I view them. It all started as a ride. I'm willing to bet that only about twenty-five percent of those teenage girls screaming Johnny Depp's name on the red carpet waiting for the premiere of the sequel to 2003's summer hit, didn't know it all started as a ride. That's actually quite unfortunate because that is one of the best rides...
