Thank You for Smoking 2006

In a role Aaron Eckhart seems born to play, the hero of "Thank You for Smoking" is Nick Naylor, chief spokesman for Big Tobacco, who makes his living defending the rights of smokers and cigarette makers in today's neo-puritanical culture. Confronted by health zealots out to ban tobacco and an opportunistic senator (Macy) who wants to put poison labels on cigarette packs, Nick goes on a PR offensive, spinning away the dangers of cigarettes on TV talk shows and enlisting a Hollywood super-agent (Rob Lowe) to promote smoking in movies. Nick's newfound notoriety attracts the attention of both tobacco's head honcho (Duvall) and an investigative reporter for an influential Washington daily (Holmes). Nick says he is just doing what it takes to pay the mortgage, but he begins to think about how his work makes him look in the eyes of his young son Joey (Bright). (read more)

An excellent hilarious film about lobbyists, journalists, politicians, Hollywood and the general hypocrisy and greed of our society. Aaron Eckhart is great in his best role yet. One of the best film of 2006.

Thank You for Smoking Movie Review by Jesse (12/15/2006)

This was a very interesting movie. A very impressive screenplay based on the novel by Christopher Buckley and brought to the screen by Jason Reitman (also director). The movie is a satirical comedy that follows Nick Naylor (Eckhart, who is in top form), Big Tobacco's chief spokesman who spins on behalf of cigarettes while...

Thank You for Smoking Movie Review by Steven (7/13/2006)

Sociology teaches us nothing. That subject teaches us what such psychopath person is thinking about just to make us think outside the square. In reality, the "right path" is always there just so we can be lured to their side. Any opposing question results in harsh punishment. Therefore, the view that we express can be...

Thank You for Smoking Movie Review by Eric Somer (6/15/2006)

For many of us, arguing isn't about right and wrong. What matters most is winning the argument. In the thought-provoking comedy Thank You for Smoking from writer/director Jason Reitman (son of director Ivan Reitman), winning the argument is crucial to the billions of dollars at stake in the tobacco industry.

To keep...
