Date Movie (2006)
The twisted minds of two of the six writers of Scary Movie – Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg – skewer the romantic comedy genre in DATE MOVIE, a film for people who love date movies and people who hate them. The filmmakers' goal, in their own words: "We wanted to create a romance that women will respond to and a balls-out comedy for the men in the audience." Seltzer and Friedberg tell the story of hopeless romantic Julia Jones, who has finally met the man of her dreams, the very British Grant Funkyerdoder. But before they can have their Big Fat Greek Wedding, they'll have to Meet the Parents; hook-up with The Wedding Planner, and contend with Grant's friend Andy – a spectacularly beautiful woman who wants to put an end to her Best Friend's Wedding. From the writers of "Scary Movie" and "Spy Hard" comes this spoof on romantic comedies. Hannigan plays the lead, while Campbell plays her romantic interest. Griffin is Hannigan's father, while Coolidge and Willard are Campbell's parents. (read more)

The writing is terrible. The "acting" is non-existent. The jokes aren't funny. The best thing about this movie is that is should inspire more people to write scripts. If this is the kind of movie that Hollywood wants. I could give them a movie of this caliber once a week. And I'm not even Jewish!

Rare is the filmmaking experience that so severely disappoints me. I enjoy a good parody just as much as the next person, the key word being "good". Everything that is wrong with the 'Scary Movie' and Austin Powers sequels is rolled into one with this amateurish and painfully unfunny movie. How in the world they got...

Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer need to have pineapple violently rammed up their arses "little Nicky" style for producing this unholy pile of ecrement.

A very funny movie! Just like the Scary Movies. It is stupid but very funny! A perfect movie for teenagers. The performance by Alyson Hannigan was amazing I never thought she could be so funny! If you like Comedy. I suggest you see this movie.
